A little bit of time has passed since my last post. Work has kept me busy, and life has kept me busier, but it’s all been very positive! For the last 5 years I’ve owned a two liter Golf TDI. Leather seats, corners like a dream, extremely fuel efficient. An all-round amazing car. As years pass, priorities change. You tend to realise that “things” matter less than experiences. So I sold the Golf and bought a Suzuki Jimny.I love this little car. It’s slow, there’s very little space, and it’s very basic. None of that matters. I won’t try to explain why, because nobody wants to read an essay. Let’s just say it has character, it’s a joy to drive, and it can get you places few other cars can. So we’ve decided that when we have nothing planned for a Sunday, we’ll find somewhere to go we haven’t been to, and we’ll look for at least one dirt road or mountain pass to get there. First on the list was the Van Der Stel pass. To get there, however, we had to take the Franschhoek pass where we stopped to take a look at Jan Joubert’s Gat bridge - the oldest stone bridge in use in South Africa.
